Children's Pastor

Full Time Position

Summary of the Position

This person will be responsible for direction and oversight of all ministry for children from birth through to grade 5. This person must be knowledgeable of and sensitive to biblical spiritual formation in members of this age range, while being strategic in leadership, vision and implementation of ministry objectives. This person will serve as a member of KRT’s pastoral team and use their gifts in the areas of shepherding, leadership development, teaching, team building and pastoral care within the Student Ministries Department.
Position Responsibilities
  • Support and partner with parents in the spiritual formation of their youth
  • Develop strong volunteer staff by implementing dynamic recruiting, training, motivating and support systems
  • Develop an annual ministry plan that integrates the overall vision, mission and core values of KRT
  • Provide leadership for hospitality towards visitors, as well as, assimilated Children’s Ministries
  • Promote growth through discipleship
  • Proactive in researching, reading and learning about/from other thriving youth ministries
  • Provide direct supervision and assist in developing a Children’s Ministry team.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Ensure ‘Plan to Protect’, or similar, is followed for Children’s Ministry
  • Oversee Children’s Ministries budget
  • Identify, develop and foster current and emerging leaders within the ministry
  • Develop a teaching/discipleship plan for Children’s Ministry
  • Oversee and support the teaching of Children’s Ministry and small groups, assign small group leaders
  • Develop teaching gifts of individuals and volunteers
    • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills
  • 1 to 5 years’ experience working with Children in a teaching capacity
  • Experience developing curriculum and a classroom setting
  • Bible College/Seminary degree or similar in related field an asset
  • Comprehensive Biblical knowledge required
  • Experience in a multi-staff organization
  • Experience in a mid to large church children ministry setting
  • Leads a disciplined lifestyle, a deeply committed follower of Jesus
  • High level of integrity and seeks to be above reproach
  • Strong communication skills (both one‐on‐one and in mid to large group settings)
  • Contagious personality; a leader that is easy to follow
  • Exudes passion for children and understands their context
  • Ability to cast a clear vision that others will align with and support
  • Strives for excellence in ministry and calls others to do the same
  • Leadership style that seeks to develop and empower the skills and gifts of others
  • Proven ability to delegate and engage others as leaders
  • Seeks to include mentorship and mentoring in personal performance and in ministry
  • Teachable and receptive to coaching/counseling
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Excellent representative of Kennedy Road Tabernacle
  • Values multi‐dimensions of ministry that include teaching, worship and creative arts
